Overview

Boston Children’s Hospital and South Shore Hospital present the South Shore Hospital 2018 Pediatric Health Care Summit.  Please join us for a half-day of presentations and discussions focused on topics that are timely and relevant to pediatric practices. Topics include:

    • Movement Disorders
    • Bronchiolitis
    • Lyme Disease
    • Sleep

    This community-based continuing medical education (CME) seminar, offered free of charge, will inform pediatric primary care providers of the changing trends in the management of common health concerns among children.

    This year's program will be held in the Snell Conference Room at South Shore Hospital (55 Fogg Road, South Weymouth, MA, 02195)

    Objectives
    1. Discuss why the first 3 months of life are best thought of as a "missing 4th trimester"
    2. Explain what is meant by the term "calming reflux"
    3. Correctly describe 5 techniques (the "5 S's" that activate the "calming reflux"
    4. Describe Bronchiolitis as heterogeneous
    5. Understand oximetry readings so they may be best interpreted within clinical context
    6. Recognize how the microbiome plays a role in bronchiolitis
    7. Distinguish between the five hyperkinetic and one hypokinetic movement disorder
    8. Use the clues of onset, timing, and distribution of abnormal movement to narrow the differential
    9. Recognize primary movement disorders, distinct from symptoms of broader neurologic conditions
    10. Describe epidemiology and approach to the diagnosis of Lyme Disease
    11. Present ED cases in order to discuss best available evidence

    The South Shore Hospital 2018 Pediatric Health Care Summit is a complimentary CME course provided by Boston Children’s Hospital and South Shore Hospital. Space is limited and reservations will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis.
