Overview

This course is designed to meet the physicians', physician assistants', nurse practitioners', nurses' and other health care providers' need for enhanced knowledge and competence and improved performance in caring for patients with common surgical problems in multiple pediatric surgical subspecialties. It is designed to address the common issues seen by the practicing pediatrician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner and/or nurse in their daily practice. It allows the attendee to enhance his/her ability to make a surgical diagnosis, improve their initial screening process, and increase their knowledge of when to refer to a specialist. The speakers also touch upon the latest literature information on their respective subjects.

The course is designed based on feedback received from the practicing pediatricians and surveys from past conferences. Interactive learning formats such as Q&A, small group discussions and didactic lectures will be provided. This will engage the learners in the educational process and help them develop new strategies they can apply in their daily practice. 

Objectives
  1. Discuss recent basic science and clinical advances in pediatrics
  2. Determine the bench to beside applications of recent scientific advances to the clinical care of children
  3. Evaluate traditional principles of care in light of recent scientific advances in pediatrics

Boston Children’s Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.25  AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity.
