Overview

If you would like to register for this course, please e-mail cmedepartment@childrens.harvard.edu.

The goals of this course are to provide enriching and relevant education on topics highlighted as areas of interest from past participants. Given the zoom format, participants will be able to tune in from the comfort of their own home to listen to experts on several topics of interest.

This year, participants will get to learn more about: caring for patients with autism, an update on pediatric COVID-19, outpatient work up and management of headaches and orthopedic injuries and a review of pediatric dermatology.

The speakers will be pre-recording their sessions on zoom and will be available for a live question and answer segment with participants at the end of each session. CME credit will be awarded to all meeting participants. This course will be offered free of charge!

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Summarize updates on COVID-19 infection in children
  2. Review what is known and unknown about long-haul COVID-19 in children
  3. Describe the current state of pediatric COVID-19 vaccination
  4. Increase diagnostic accuracy of pediatric headache disorders
  5. Discuss how to formulate a headache treatment plan using lifestyle modifications, acute treatment, preventive medications, and non-pharmacological interventions
  6. Introduce exciting new migraine treatment options
  7. Review and understand the current evidence for psychotropic treatment options for psychiatric comorbidities in individuals with ASD
  8. Identify key features of presenting history and physical exam to guide diagnostic decision making for pediatric sports injuries
  9. Understand guiding principles of clinical evaluation and management for common musculoskeletal injuries in the pediatric athlete
  10. Build a framework for Return-to-Play considerations in the young athlete that are both patient-centered and evidence-based
  11. Review additional management and diagnostic steps that could be used to treat common dermatological conditions at the primary medical home
  12. Highlight potential complications that should necessitate timely referral to Dermatology
