Overview

The Abraham Thall and Sadye Stone Thall Virtual Educational Symposium:  Pediatric Reconstruction, Reintegration and Resiliency aims to educate medical professionals on caring for pediatric/adolescent patients with traumatic injury, such as a burn, resulting in visible scars. The Shriners Children's Boston team will utilize their expertise in burn care to review treatment strategies for acute and long-term needs of these patients to minimize scars and maximize resiliency.  The Thall Symposium will focus on the developmental aspect of appearance by reviewing current treatments using innovative approaches in plastic and reconstructive surgery and laser therapy.

A renowned Shriners Children's Boston plastic and reconstructive surgeon will outline surgical treatment options to manage scars in pediatric and adolescent patients with optimal results for the growing child. In addition to physical needs, a social worker and child life specialist at Shriners Children's Boston will describe how they provide ongoing psychosocial support to patients and families during both the acute phase of hospitalization and the long-term reconstructive phase. Specific concerns for pediatric patients will evolve as the child grows. The Shriners Children's Boston team of professionals is there every step of the way. Ongoing scar remediation treatment and surgeries, combined with the psychosocial support provided, are hallmarks of the wrap-around care patients receive. The results are transformative and help pediatric burn patients live their lives to the fullest potential with confidence.

The course will end with a live Question & Answer session with all speakers.

Attendees who will benefits from this course are pediatric/adolescent providers including physicians, nurses, physician assistants, social workers, and child life specialists.
