Celiac Smarts 2023 will look at the history of celiac disease, new advances in diagnostic methods, clinical trials for celiac drug development, and how research, multi-disciplinary clinical excellence, and culinary innovation have paved the way to a better understanding of this genetically mediated autoimmune disease. Available in-person and live streamed for virtual attendees. Throughout the day experts will present on the various topics and participants will engage in discussion. 

Objectives
  1. Describe celiac disease and the proper diagnosis techniques.
  2. Identify common barriers to gluten-free dietary adherence for patients with celiac disease.
  3. Understand complications from non-adherence to the gluten-free diet and how to overcome dietary challenges.
  4. Explain the relationship between celiac disease and related autoimmune conditions. including eosinophilic esophagitis, thyroid disease, and type 1 diabetes.
  5. Identify controversial topics in celiac disease care and understand how to address on an individualized level with patients.
  6. Discuss current clinical trials for treatments for celiac disease and the mechanisms of each drug.
