Target Audience
Specialties - Adolescent Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Primary Care

Overview

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, primary care physicians and medical professionals are being called upon to treat and manage care of adolescent and young adult patients with eating disorders.  Patients with eating disorders are at risk for worsening symptoms and inadequate care as a result of eating disorder focused programs, particularly higher levels of care, reducing their census due to covid precautions leading to long wait times or changing to virtual format.

As a result, primary care providers are being asked to manage the care of patients with eating disorders like never before.  This course is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals involved in the medical care of adolescents and young adults with eating symptomatology and eating disorders.  The objective is to support and train health professionals to become more knowledgeable about the diagnosis and management of eating disorders and to become more proficient in providing office-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.  The format will include lectures with question-and-answer sessions, case consultation, and workshops.  Faculty members will be available to respond to questions following presentations.

The goal is to enhance the health care of adolescents and young adults with eating disorders and prevent the need for higher levels of care through the adoption of evidence-based practice and innovations in office practices of first line primary care physicians and medical professionals.

Course Format
This course will be fully digital and be presented online, via Zoom.
