Overview

Boston Children’s Hospital is excited to present a half-day continuing medical education program for optometrists and other primary eye care providers. BCH optometrists and ophthalmologists will discuss the latest developments in the diagnosis and management of pediatric eye conditions such as amblyopia, myopia, concussion, papilledema, functional vision evaluations, retinal dystrophies, and strabismus. 

The course will use short didactic lectures and interactive question sessions with the audience. All speakers have been trained in using an engaging, TED-style approach to delivering new information.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify new and future treatment options for managing children with amblyopia.
  2. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of current myopia treatments.
  3. Identify red flags when evaluating children with abnormal optic nerves.
  4. Recognize the functional and psychosocial effects of strabismus in adults.

Cancellation of Services

Although highly unlikely, in case an event is canceled or postponed, Boston Children’s can provide a full refund or offer a credit towards future events to those who have already registered.

In support of improving patient care, Boston Children's Hospital is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

 

Physician
Boston Children’s Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity.

Optometry
Boston Children’s Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.00 COPE credit hours. Optometrists should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
