Overview

The Michael J. Bresnan Continuing Education Course in Child Neurology is an intensive, comprehensive review of new developments in child neurology, ranging from basic neuroscience of particular use to practicing clinicians to the latest evidence from clinical trials and studies that should influence the practice of child neurology. The faculty of the Department of Neurology at Boston Children's Hospital serves as the core faculty for this course.

For more than three decades, the Bresnan Course has met the varied learning needs of both child neurology specialists and others from related disciplines and professions. We offer a wide array of content organized into thematic packages so participants can choose the most relevant sessions for their practice.

Course Format
In response to the COVID pandemic, the 2020 Bresnan Course pivoted to a virtual offering, which participants rated highly. In 2022 attendees will have access to a combination of prerecorded lectures to watch at their own pace, and engaging live virtual sessions including panel discussions, roundtable lunches, and interactive talks.

A total of 37* AMA PRA Category 1 credits will be presented as follows:

  • 16 hours of live/interactive presentations during the week of September 12-16, 2022
  • 21 hours of pre-recorded presentations available online for a period before, during, and after that week

Attendees have the option to register for the entire five-day course—Bresnan Complete—or for one or more of the following 4 packages:

New Addition: RITA-T (Rapid Interactive Screening Test for Autism in Toddlers)

This session trains Early Childhood and Health care providers to administer the RITA-T, an interactive measure that has been developed to screen for autism spectrum disorders in toddlers 18 to 36 months of age.

Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

  1. Integrate advances in neuroscience into the care of children with neurological conditions.
  2. Recognize and implement critical updates in clinical practices and treatments.
  3. Meet the current practice needs and demands on medical providers across specialties and professions.
